Supreme Court Hearing Set for Tuesday on Withdrawal of Charges Against RSP Leader Rabi Lamichhane

Mar 23, Kathmandu - The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a petition on Tuesday challenging the decision of the Office of the Attorney General to withdraw organized crime and money laundering charges against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

The hearing was initially not conducted today due to the absence of a quorum, and it has now been rescheduled for Tuesday. Court spokesperson Ajunprasad Koirala confirmed that following the absence of a joint bench comprising Justices Binod Sharma and Abdul Aziz Suslaman, the hearing was postponed and set for tomorrow.

Previously, a joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokhrel directed the submission of a revised decision by the Attorney General to withdraw the cases related to organized crime and money laundering against Lamichhane on Chaitra 5. The case was also scheduled for hearing today.

Earlier, a joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikant Poudel ordered the submission of the petition for regular hearing by Chait 1.

Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had decided to withdraw the cases filed during the previous government against Lamichhane. This decision was challenged by youth leader Yubaraj Poudel, senior lawyer Dinesh Tripathi, and lawyer Abhas Regmi through separate writ petitions in the Supreme Court.
