Mar 21, Kathmandu - On social media, Trump announced, “We are very close to achieving our objectives, and we are considering gradually scaling back our significant military efforts in the Middle East.”
According to Trump, the goals include damaging Iran’s missile capabilities, dismantling its defense industry, destroying its navy and air force, preventing it from acquiring nuclear weapons, and ensuring the safety of American allies in the region.
However, Trump expressed openness to dialogue, despite not seeking a peace agreement. He told reporters, “You can pursue peace agreements, but I do not want to make peace. When you are completely destroying the other side, it’s impossible.”
Trump also claimed that Iran’s navy and air force have been obliterated and that all levels of Iranian leadership have been killed. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he emphasized that countries using it must ensure security and that the U.S. is ready to assist if necessary.
Trump criticized NATO allies, calling them ‘cowards,’ and indicated that Europe has shown reluctance to take a direct role in the conflict. In this context, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas stated, “This is not a European war, but Europe’s interests are directly at risk.”
Since the joint attack by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, there have been disruptions in global shipping, rising oil prices, and economic impacts worldwide.
