Nepal Police Apprehend Man Who Killed His Father After One and a Half Months

Mar 20, Kathmandu - The police have arrested a man who had been on the run for a month and a half after committing his father's murder. Forty-nine-year-old Shrawan Kumar Sahani of Ratuwamai Municipality-3, Chauki Ghat, Morang, was detained on suspicion of killing his father.

He was apprehended on Friday, more than six weeks after the incident, by a police team from Gauriganj Rural Municipality-6, Jhapa.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Lilaraj Lamichhane, Shrawan Kumar attacked his 70-year-old father, Satrudhan Sahani, during a domestic dispute on the evening of Magh 20. He allegedly assaulted his father with slaps and beatings.

The victim was seriously injured and was admitted to Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. However, after hospital staff informed that recovery was unlikely, he was discharged and taken home. Unfortunately, Satrudhan Sahani passed away at his residence on Falgun 28 (around March 13), as confirmed by DSP Lamichhane.
