Mar 20, Kathmandu - National team ace Deependra Singh Airee has signed with JB Burges, a franchise competing in Belgium’s inaugural EU T20 League. The announcement was made by the team’s management, Dream Sports.
JB Burgers, owned by Dream Sports, is also the franchise representing Janakpur Bulls in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Airee, a key player for Nepal, has previously represented teams in the UAE’s ILT20 with Gulf Giants, Pakistan’s PSL with Islamabad United, and Canada’s league with Vancouver Knights.
Dream Sports owner Utsav Sigdel expressed his happiness at adding Airee to their squad, highlighting ongoing efforts to bring Nepali talent into international club cricket.
This follows Sandip Lamichane’s involvement with Legez Red Lions, one of six teams in the league. Other notable Nepali players include attacking New Zealand opener Colin Munro and South African all-rounder Rassie van der Dussen, both already signed with JB Burges.
The EU T20 League in Belgium marks the country’s first-ever franchise cricket tournament, scheduled from June 6 to 14. With a focus on promoting Nepali players, Dream Sports plans to invest up to $1 million USD in the league’s inaugural season.
Six franchise teams will compete, including major Belgian cities such as Brussels, Antwerp, Kent, Leuven, and Liege Red Lions, along with JB Burges. The league format features a round-robin stage, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs.
A key rule mandates each team to include at least four associate players, opening doors for many Nepali cricketers to showcase their talent on an international stage.
