Mar 17, Kathmandu - Sri Lanka has decided to change the working hours of government employees to manage the fuel shortage in the country.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the weekly holiday system for government employees will be implemented every Wednesday from March 18.
According to the information released by the Commissioner for Essential Services, Prabhat Chandrakirthi, all government schools, universities and courts will also remain closed on Wednesday. However, this decision will not apply to essential services such as healthcare, ports, water supply and customs.
It has also been said that the heads of government agencies will have the right to call employees to work within the remaining four working days based on the need for work.
Along with this, in view of the fuel crisis, the government has postponed all government programs until further notice. The government has also requested private sector organizations to adopt a similar system as much as possible.
