Mar 14, Kathmandu - An elderly man has tragically lost his life while waiting in line to purchase a cooking gas (LPG) cylinder in Farrukhabad district. The 75-year-old victim, identified as Mukhtar Ansari Lal Sarai from Manihari Mohalla, died suddenly at a gas agency behind a warehouse in the Mohalla area.
According to eyewitnesses, the senior citizen had left his home early Friday morning and was standing in the gas line when he suddenly collapsed. Bystanders reported that he appeared to have experienced a heart attack before falling to the ground.
Rescue efforts were immediately initiated, and CPR was administered. Despite being rushed to a nearby private nursing home for treatment, doctors there declared him dead. Family members revealed that the elderly man had been unwell for some time and was undergoing medical treatment, though the exact cause of death remains unclear.
His nephew, Mohammed Vasi, stated, “He stood in line for hours, and suddenly his health deteriorated, and he collapsed.”
District supply officer Suresh Yadav confirmed that the incident has been reported to local authorities.
The tragic event has sparked outrage and condemnation. Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav expressed his grief on social media, criticizing the government’s handling of the situation. On his X (Twitter) account, he wrote, “It is extremely sad and unfortunate that an elderly citizen died due to a heart attack while waiting in line for gas. BJP members must accept the truth and acknowledge that the government’s mistakes are costing lives. This has gone on for too long. The BJP should not destroy any more families.”
