Government is serious about the conflict in the Middle East: Foreign Minister Sharma

Mar 14, Kathmandu - Foreign Minister Bala Krishnan Sharma has assured that the government is taking the ongoing instability and conflicts in the Middle East and other parts of the world very seriously and with utmost vigilance.

Addressing the 12th Global Conference of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Minister Sharma emphasized that the safety and interests of Nepali nationals in conflict zones are the government's top priority. He highlighted recent developments in the Middle East and their direct impact on Nepali citizens' travel and safety.

The Minister informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an ‘Emergency Control Room’ to address any urgent issues faced by Nepali citizens abroad. He explained that this facility serves as a communication bridge between Nepali nationals overseas and their families back home, ensuring timely information exchange and coordination.

“Considering the current circumstances, the Nepal government has prioritized the security, interests, and assistance of Nepali citizens abroad, and has taken necessary steps to coordinate and respond effectively,” said Sharma. “The Emergency Control Room will act as a vital link, facilitating communication between Nepali residents abroad and their families in Nepal during emergencies.”

He further urged Nepali citizens in the Middle East to stay in contact with their respective embassies and to promptly share their situation if they face any difficulties.

Minister Sharma also praised the support and cooperation of NRNA in safeguarding the rights and welfare of Nepali nationals abroad during challenging times, underscoring the importance of collective effort.
