Government jobs taught women to speak up and rebel: Lila Devi Gadtaula

Mar 08, Kathmandu - On International Women's Day, Lila Devi Gadtaula, Nepal’s first female Chief Secretary, highlighted the limited opportunities available for women in government careers. Speaking at a program held on Sunday to mark the 116th International Women's Day, she emphasized the need to create more avenues for women to advance in public service.

Gadtaula shared her personal experience, stating, "My government job taught me to speak loudly and stand against the flow. It also taught me to rebel." She expressed disappointment that despite her achievements, some senior officials oppose placing more women in high-ranking government positions.

The trailblazing leader urged for increased representation of women in key government roles, advocating for a more inclusive and equitable civil service in Nepal.
