Special Monitoring of Election Silence Period, Security Tightened

Feb 28, Kathmandu - Election Commissioner Sagun Shumsher Rana said that special monitoring arrangements have been made to prevent possible manipulation during the silence period for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives on Falgun 21. According to him, since political parties and candidates may try to influence voters during this period, strict monitoring will be carried out by mobilizing district monitoring officers and security agencies.

Commissioner Rana also called on voters to make independent decisions and maintain cleanliness in voting. He informed that voting management, voter education, measures to reduce invalid votes, and preparations for polling stations have reached the final stage. About 342,000 security personnel have been mobilized under the security arrangements.

The Election Commission is working in coordination with technical teams and platforms to remove content that violates the code of conduct on social media. Commissioner Rana expressed confidence that the election will be clean, free, fair, and fear-free overall.
