Feb 20, Kathmandu - Nine passengers were injured in a passenger bus accident on the Gaur-Chandrapur road section in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat.
The bus (Na 8 Kha 8773) heading from Chandrapur to Gaur lost control near Dal Mill in Gaur Municipality-4 on Friday and crashed into an electric pole on the side of the road.
According to the District Traffic Police Office, Rautahat, there were about 40 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. The injured include citizens of Rautahat, Bara, Makawanpur and neighboring India.
Ranjaya Yadav, 32, of Gadhimai-1, Rautahat, Nur Muhammad, 30, of Bara Kalaiya, Niraj Kumar Gupta, 26, of Garuda-4, and Binod Baitha, 42, of Yamunamai-3 were injured in the accident. Gupta of Garuda has been sent to Birgunj for further treatment, while Binod Baitha has been sent to the Eye Hospital in Purenwa, according to the police.
Similarly, 42-year-old Sunita Keshari of Makawanpur Hetauda-4 and four people from Gamadiya, Shivhar and Sitamarhi in India were injured. The injured from India include Dev Narayan Baitha, Subham Kumar Baitha, Lalan Sah and Lasib Sahni. The other injured are undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital Gaur, informed Rajendra Thapa Magar, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Rautahat.
After the accident, a team from the District Police Office, Rautahat has taken into custody the bus driver, 24-year-old Rizwan Khan, of Chandrapur Municipality-8. The police said that the bus that was involved in the accident is at the scene and preparations are being made to bring it to the District Police Office after completing the necessary legal procedures.
