US Embassy in Nepal Clarifies Conditions for Student Visa Cancellations in the U.S.

Feb 20, Kathmandu - The US Embassy in Nepal has clarified the circumstances under which visas of students in the US will be revoked during their studies.

On Friday (Falgun 28), the embassy issued a public notice stating that students who drop out of school, are absent from classes, or withdraw from their academic program without informing the school will have their visas revoked. The notice also states that students who engage in such activities may be ineligible to reapply for a visa in the future.

Similarly, it has been stated that violations of US laws, including drug use and driving under the influence, will also affect your chances of obtaining a visa in the future.

“If you are on a student visa in the US, you must maintain your visa status at your educational institution. Dropping out of school, being absent from classes, or withdrawing from your academic program without informing the school may result in your visa being revoked and you may be ineligible to reapply for a visa in the future,” the notice states. “Violation of US laws, including drug use and driving under the influence, may permanently affect your chances of obtaining a visa in the future.”
