Woman brutally murdered in Rautahat: Husband absconding, police intensify search

Feb 16, Kathmandu - A woman was brutally murdered in Phatuwa Bijayapur Municipality of Rautahat. Aarti Devi Yadav, 28, was murdered by her husband in Petbharwa village of Ward No. 6 of Phatuwa

Bijaypur Municipality on Sunday morning and fled. The police found the body of 28-year-old Aarti Yadav, the wife of local 42-year-old Mahantha Ray Yadav, in her own bed with her throat slit.

A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Santapur Dostia, opened the locked door and found Aarti Yadav's body covered in blood. According to the police, Yadav was murdered with a sharp weapon on her neck, and a large amount of blood was found under and around the bed at the scene, as well as the body lying face down on the bed.

According to Bishnu Pradeep Basyal, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Rautahat, it is clear that the nature of the incident is murder. Since the deceased's husband Mahantha Ray Yadav was absconding after the incident, the police have placed him as the main suspect. Deputy Superintendent of Police Basyal said that the police have increased surveillance throughout the district and even in the border areas to search for the absconding Mahant Ray Yadav.
