International Childhood Cancer Day Observed with Awareness Campaign at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital

Feb 16, Kathmandu - In celebration of International Childhood Cancer Day, BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital organized an awareness program aimed at children and their guardians. The hospital provided information about childhood cancer through various activities over three days.

According to Deputy Director Dr. Umesh Nepal, the hospital conducted multiple programs including training sessions for women community health volunteers, discussions with parents about challenges and solutions, and a special event dedicated to Childhood Cancer Day.

The event featured a painting competition and distribution of essential materials such as masks, hand sanitizers, notebooks, pens, protein-rich food, and water bottles to children admitted in the hospital wards.

During the program, children undergoing treatment, including Presta Shrestha, shared their experiences, along with their guardians. Senior Consultant Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Krishna Sagar Sharma emphasized the importance of early detection, stating, "Timely awareness and treatment can save many lives from childhood cancer."
