Feb 15, Kathmandu - The Election Commission has issued 64-point instructions to political parties focusing on the election to the House of Representatives. The Commission has issued such instructions focusing on the election to be held on Falgun 21.
The Commission has stated that candidates will be allowed to hold rallies, public meetings, corner meetings and door-to-door campaigns only from Falgun 4 to Falgun 18, and that campaign programs will be allowed only from 7 am to 7 pm.
The directive states that any kind of campaigning is prohibited from 48 hours before the election until the counting of votes is completed.
The Commission has stated that election-related expenses must be made through a bank or financial institution and that financial assistance exceeding Rs 25,000 should be taken only through a bank account.
The directive states that a complete statement of expenses must be submitted to the Commission within 35 days of the announcement of the election results.
Materials bearing election symbols such as T-shirts, caps, bags, masks or lockets cannot be distributed and used, and only single-color pamphlets of up to 300 square inches on 75 grams paper can be distributed. Digital boards, flex and wall writing are completely prohibited.
Only a maximum of two vehicles can be used with the permission of the Election Officer, while the use of government vehicles is completely prohibited.
The use of children in any election program is strictly prohibited. Non-organic materials such as plastic or polythene will not be allowed in election programs. Proper management of the propaganda materials used will be the responsibility of the concerned party or candidate.
