Feb 14, Kathmandu - While most young couples spent Saturday enjoying romantic outings and celebrations on Valentine's Day, a group of youth chose a different path to mark the occasion.
Members of the Kathmandu Nirbana Lions Club visited the Pashupati Old Age Home in the capital city, dedicating their day to serving the elderly residents. The club members spent quality time, shared love and care, and provided essential assistance to the senior citizens.
According to the event coordinator, Rajan Khanal, the aim was to celebrate Valentine's Day beyond exchanging flowers, dating, disco, and café outings—by fostering social awareness and compassion.
"We decided to serve the elderly at Pashupati rather than just indulge in superficial celebrations. We wanted to express our love through social service," Khanal stated.
He added that the participation of youth invigorated the elderly residents and that such social programs will continue in the future to promote community well-being.
