Six arrested for attacking Armed Police Force, main accused Runche Madan absconding

Feb 14, Kathmandu - Parsa police have arrested six people on charges of attacking police in Adarshnagar, Birgunj.

Four Nepalese and two Indians have been arrested on charges of murder and criminal mischief for physically attacking security personnel who had gone to take control of goods stored after evading customs.

The arrested are Deepraj Sahni Malah, 38, of Chhapkaiya, Ward No. 1, Birgunj Metropolitan City, Pramod Kumar Kanu, 46, of Ward No. 10, Ghadiarwa, Kunjan Sarraf, 20, of Bindabasini Rural Municipality-5, Parsa, Sree Chandra Prasad Sah, 55, of Vindabasini Rural Municipality-5, Parsa, Prabhu Mahato, 40, of Motihari, Raxaul, India, and Pritam Kumar Chaudhary, 35, of Bhagalpur Podiya.

On the morning of Magh 26, six people were arrested for attacking a joint team of the Armed Police Force, representatives of the Birgunj Customs Office and security personnel who were trying to seize illegal goods stored in the warehouse of Madan Gupta alias Runche Madan in Adarshnagar, Birgunj, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Haribahadu Basnet, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Parsa.

He informed that the arrested people have been kept at the District Police Office, Parsa and the investigation is underway. The search for other accused involved in the incident is underway, while the main accused, Madan Gupta alias Runche, a resident of Ghadiarwa, Birgunj, is absconding and a search is underway, according to the police.
