Nepalese Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Drugs, Arrest 14 Individuals Across Multiple Locations

Feb 09, Kathmandu - Nepalese law enforcement agencies have announced the arrest of 14 individuals involved in illegal drug activities from various parts of the country. The crackdown targeted the possession and transportation of controlled substances, including Tramadol and heroin, resulting in significant seizures.

24-year-old Gurnas Gurung from Jargangkha, Tarkeshwor Municipality-6, and 23-year-old Roshan Bhujel from Dudhuli Rural Municipality-2, Sindhuli, were caught with 1,800 tablets of controlled substance Tramadol. The arrest was made by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Koteshwor.

Police seized 590 tablets of Tramadol from 22-year-old Prakash Thakuri of Nuwakot, Kathmandu, during a routine check of a scooter at Dhangadhi Chowk, Kathmandu.

Three individuals—24-year-old Rajesh Ghamal from Makwanpur, 22-year-old Niranjan Roka from Kalikot, and 18-year-old Kushalratna Thuladhar from Kathmandu—were apprehended with 470 tablets of Tramadol. The arrests were made by the Janasewa Police Station.

19-year-old Prem BK from Lamki Market was caught with 110 milligrams of a substance resembling illegal heroin. The arrest was made by Lamki Police.

Two men—19-year-old Dhanraj Buddha from Tikapur Municipality-8 and another individual—were arrested with 1 gram and 390 milligrams of suspected heroin, respectively. The arrests involved the Tikapur Police and Kalakunda Police Checkpost.

29-year-old Dinesh BK from Dhangadhi Municipality-1 was detained with 370 milligrams of a heroin-like substance.

Two individuals, 25-year-old Ranjit Shah from Morang’s Gramthan Rural Municipality-11 and 73-year-old Bhupalal Bishwas Tharu, were caught with 1,020 Tramadol tablets and 1,500 Spaspen tablets. The arrests occurred during a police check of a vehicle at Tetariya Chowk.

Police seized 5 grams and 42 milligrams of heroin-like substance from two men, aged 28 and 25, respectively, in Birendranagar Municipality-10. The arrests involved the Surkhet District Police Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Central Police Spokesperson Inspector General of Police, Avinaranay Kafle, confirmed that authorities are actively investigating these cases, aiming to dismantle drug trafficking networks and prevent the proliferation of illegal substances across Nepal.
