National Assembly Speaker Directs to Prepare New Parliament Building within the first week of Chaitra

Feb 06, Kathmandu - National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal has directed the concerned bodies to complete the construction work of the Federal Parliament Building within the first week of Chaitra.

He gave the directive after summoning Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development Gopal Prasad Sigdel and the parties involved in the construction work to his office in Singha Durbar on Friday.

Federal Parliament Secretariat Spokesperson Ekram Giri said that Speaker Dahal has directed the parties involved to complete the work without any hindrance so that the House of Representatives and the National Assembly can operate from the new Parliament Building.

In the meantime, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development Sigdel briefed Speaker Dahal that the construction work of the Parliament Building is about 92 percent complete and the remaining work can be completed by the first week of Chaitra.

Meanwhile, Speaker Dahal also alerted the Parliament Secretariat to monitor the work regularly to complete it on time. He also drew the attention of the parties concerned to submit the progress report of the work to the Federal Parliament Secretariat on a weekly basis, said Giri, Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

He said, "The Honorable Chairman has also directed to complete the remaining works on time without any hindrance due to any reason. Along with this, discussions have also been held on various issues including the deployment of technical personnel and the delegation of other technical personnel of the Secretariat to visit the work, understand it and enhance its capacity. And, it has been said that the Secretariat will be informed regularly, especially every week, about the progress of the work and that the Secretariat will also conduct regular on-site observations in the coming days."

The Parliament Secretariat is preparing to start the meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly from the new Parliament building, Singha Durbar, after the Falgun 21 elections.

Accordingly, Chairman Dahal has alerted the Ministry of Urban Development and the parties involved in the construction work to work forward with greater emphasis on the construction of the meeting hall of the House of Representatives and the meeting hall of the National Assembly.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has also stated that it is confident that the construction work of the building will be completed in the first week of Chaitra and the Parliament meeting will begin from the same place.
