Apple Unveils Voice Isolation Feature on iPhone To Improve Calling Sound In Crowded Places

Nov 03, Kathmandu - Apple has introduced a new feature on the iPhone called Voice Isolation, which aims to prioritize the user's voice during a call and reduce background noise. According to the company, this technology will make calling sounds clearer even in crowded places like markets, buses or offices.

While on a call, swipe down from the top of the screen to open Control Center. There, go to Phone Controls and select Voice Isolation from the microphone modes (Automatic, Standard, Voice Isolation). Once selected, the phone will prioritize the speaker sound only during the call and try to minimize background noise.

The feature is said to be available on iPhone XR, XS and later models. To work on regular calls, the device will need to be running iOS 16.4 or later. FaceTime and some third-party apps may also work on devices running iOS 15 or later.

Experts say that such noise isolation technologies can improve the quality of mobile communications and help reduce old problems such as inaudible calls in crowded areas. Users and developers are expected to confirm the real benefits and limitations after testing.
