Indian Ambassador Srivastava Meets Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Oct 30, Kathmandu - Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel at the ministry in Singha Durbar today.

The ministry said that during the meeting, views were exchanged on the historical relations, cooperation and current political and development situation between the two countries. Minister Kharel appreciated the importance of Nepal-India relations and the development projects implemented with India's assistance and India's contribution in the socio-political sector. He said that the priority of the current government is to hold free and fair elections, control corruption and promote good governance. Kharel informed that dialogue has been initiated with political parties and UN representatives to hold the elections on the scheduled date.

Meanwhile, the first formal trilateral meeting was held on Wednesday and all parties responded positively.

Ambassador Srivastava expressed India's commitment to continue its cooperation as a good neighbour and said that it is ready to increase financial and technical assistance for Nepal's economic transformation and prosperity. Officials from the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the meeting.
