Vote Counting Begins In Ilam

Apr 28, Kathmandu- The counting of votes for Ilam-2 has started. According to the decision of the all-party meeting held on Sunday morning, the counting of votes started a little while ago.

Chief Electoral Officer Keshav Ghimire informed that the counting of votes has started in the Gautam Buddha Assembly Hall in Ilam amid high security. Heavy security personnel have been mobilized at the polling place. CCTV with wire netting has been installed at the polling place.

Chief District Officer of Ilam Indradev Yadav informed that the work of announcing the vote results at the counting place has been arranged. Desks have been set up for media persons at the polling place.

Out of 115,889 voters, 69,287 (59.79 percent) have voted in the by-elections of Ilam that were held on Saturday.

After the death of the speaker of the Constituent Assembly, Subhash Chandra Nemwang, by-elections were held in Ilam 2. In Ilam 2, 19 candidates including Nemwang's son Suhang Nemwang from UML, Dumbar Khadka of Congress, Milan Limbu of Rastriya Swatantra Party and Dakendra Singh Thegim of Identitarians are standing.
